A paperwork snafu that lists a flu vaccine as a pneumonia vaccine has some Berks County seniors confused and irritated. Doctors and other flu vaccine providers began getting phone calls after Oct. 1 from seniors who said the routine explanation of benefits they receive after getting a treatment or therapy through Medicare listed the shot they thought was their seasonal flu vaccine as a pneumonia vaccine, said Charles Moran, a spokesman for the Pennsylvania Medical Society. "Explanations of benefits (or EOBs) are difficult enough for patients to decipher," Moran said. "Since early October, Medicare patients have been confused even more by an error on their EOBs that shows they got a pneumonia vaccine when they really received a flu vaccine.
